Hrithik Roshan Was A Victim of Bullying; Says His Cycle Was Broken by Seniors in School
The celebrated twentieth anniversary of the movie 'Koi Mil Gaya,' starring Hrithik Roshan, is here. The film follows the story of Rohit Mehra, a young man with cognitive challenges, who connects with an extraterrestrial being using his deceased father's computer.

Hrithik Roshan’s movie ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ is celebrating its glorious twentieth anniversary. The movie is about a mentally challenged guy Rohit Mehra who interacts with an extraterrestrial being through his late father’s computer.
Hrithik Roshan is thrilled with all the love and adulation the science fiction is receiving even after twenty years. The film was released way back on August 8, 2003. Makers of the film have released the film once again to mark its twentieth anniversary.
Recalling his experiences in the movie, Hrithik Roshan said that he fit into the character of Rohit perfectly as he faced similar experiences as a child. He was a victim of bullying due to his stuttering.
He recalled a scene in the movie where Rohit’s scooty was broken, however in real life Hrithik’s favourite BMX bike was broken.
“You know, a cycle I loved. I used to be crazy about cycling and stunts and I had this BMX bike and some big boys came and they broke it. And it was heartbreaking.”
“The vulnerability that was required for Rohit's character, life had already given me through my personal experiences”, Hrithik told ANI.
In an interview with The Indian Express Hrithik Roshan expressed that school days were difficult as he could barely speak. He didn't have many friends or girlfriends.
“I have sometimes felt that life is very unfair. In school, I had such a bad stammer that I couldn’t speak. I never had any friends, or girlfriends. I was very shy, and would come back from school and just cry. School days were very painful.”
His childhood experiences have made the actor sensitive to his sons’ needs. The father pays special attention to sons Hrehaan Roshan and Hridhaan Roshan’s personal experiences.
While childhood bullying can leave indelible scars for some individuals, Hrithik Roshan didn’t allow it to define his life. Speaking of Koi Mil Gaya coming back to limelight, Roshan said, “Elated to see children and families re-watching 'Koi Mil Gaya' in theatres, Hrithik said, Koi...Mil Gaya and the Krrish franchise are some of my most proud moments as an actor. It's heartwarming to see all the love Koi...Mil Gaya is receiving from the re-release. I'm so happy that the film is bringing kids back to theatres with their families. As an artist, the love from my audience is my biggest reward and I'm overwhelmed seeing all the nostalgia it's generating and the love that our film is garnering.”
