Here’s Why Meghan Markle Praised Her 3-Year-Old Daughter Lilibet at The Afro Women And Power Event in Colombia
Meghan Markle spoke about the importance of women finding their voices at the ‘Afro Women and Power’ event, Colombia. She emphasized that young girls must feel heard and praised her 3-year-old daughter who has already found her own voice.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were in Colombia as part of their four-day tour of the country.
Meghan, 43, attended the ‘Afro Women and Power’ where she discussed the importance of women finding their voice.
While speaking of voices, she praised her daughter Princess Lilibet who has already found her voice.
In the discussion titled ‘Afro-Descendant Women and Power: Voice of Equity’ Meghan explained that girls must be trained at a young age on how to utilise their voice to be heard.
“For us and the work that we do with our Archewell Foundation, certainly the work that we do as parents, as I do as a mother, is ensuring that young girls feel as though their voices are being heard,” the Duchess of Sussex said.
If young women know, they are being encouraged to use their voices, that’s what they’ll do. It would in turn cause a ripple effect among them. She further elaborated, “And they’re going to create a very different environment than so many of us grew up in where our voices were meant to be smaller.”
While speaking about female role models she included her mother, Doria Ragland. Markle said that she was fortunate enough to grow up in an environment where her voice was heard. “I think that is a luxury that a lot of young girls and women aren’t often afforded”, she expressed.
Speaking about her daughter Lilibet, Markle recalled, “She’s about to turn three. And a few weeks ago, she looked at me and she would just see the reflection in my eyes. And she [goes], ‘Mama, I see me in you.’”
“Oh, now she was talking really literally. But I hung onto those words in a very different way. And I thought, yes, I do see me in you, and you see me in you.”
