Google Doodle Celebrates International Women’s Day with a Creative Animation Dedicated to Womanhood

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, today’s Google Doodle is dedicated to women from all walks of life and how they support each other in society.

The theme of this year’s Google Doodle is ‘women supporting women.’

Each vignette in each letter of the word Google depicts how women in so many areas enhance the life of other women.

Today’s Doodle was created by artist Alyssa Winans.

In the animation you can see an influential woman delivering a speech, mothers tending to their children, women protesting and a lady doctor attending to a patient.

Alyssa expressed that the complete understanding of womanhood can’t be demonstrated through one image; however she hopes that the image can highlight “how broad, complex, nuanced, and powerful the notion of womanhood is.”

The Google Doodle website shared the animation and wrote, "Women in positions of influence who advocate for progress across issues central to the lives of women everywhere. Women who come together to explore, learn, and rally for their rights. Women who are primary caregivers to people of all walks of life. Women who are critical support systems for each other in motherhood. In honour of women across the globe who are supporting each other across all aspects of life - Happy International Women's Day."

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Embrace Equity which means to create an inclusive world for everyone for a better world. The website reads : “People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.”

Today many are encouraged to strike the #EmbraceEquity pose which is embracing ourselves and share it on social media and other websites.

This year women’s day has also collided with India’s colourful festival Holi.
