Gold medallist and Italian swimmer, Thomas Ceccon, was recently spotted sleeping sideways on the ground in a park.

In a snapshot shared online by Saudi Arabian rower Husein Alireza, Thomas Ceccon was seen having a siesta on a towel, laid on a patch of green grass.

The Olympian recently complained about the living conditions inside the Olympic Games Village to the Press.

The sportsman lamented that there was no air conditioning inside the village and the food too was bad.

He also said that he struggles to sleep in the afternoon due to the heat and the noise.

“There is no air conditioning in the village, it's hot, the food is bad.”

“Many athletes move for this reason: it's not an alibi or excuse, it's the reality of what perhaps not everyone knows.”

“I'm disappointed that I didn't make the final but I was too tired. It's hard to sleep both at night and in the afternoon.”

“Usually, when I'm at home, I always sleep in the afternoon: here I really struggle between the heat and the noise,” said Ceccon as quoted by the Sun.

Although Ceccon didn’t make it to the final, he won gold in the men’s 100m backstroke and bronze in the men's 4x100m freestyle relay.

Apart from Ceccon, Coco Gauff also complained about the living conditions inside the Games Village.

Reports say that the entire US tennis team moved out of the Olympic Village and found other accommodations. There were other complaints about the recyclable beds not being comfortable.

The Indian sports ministry sent 40 air conditioners for athletes who are struggling with the sweltering heat as well as participating in challenging events.

Some athletes are coping with the challenging conditions while others are choosing a route like Thomas Ceccon.
