George Bush Turns into Pizza Boy to His Secret Service Staffs, Amid Shutdown

The significance and importance of good action are understood by the former US President George W. Bush, who also tried to steal the show and the benefit of time set by the President from his own party. The former President embraced the role of a good guy recently by delivering pizzas to his secret service staffs and posted the photograph on his Instagram handle.

In the Instagram post, George Bush also wrote, “Laura W. Bush and I are grateful to our Secret Service personnel and the thousands of Federal employees who are working hard for our country without a paycheck and we thank our fellow citizens who are supporting them”.

The message comes at a time when the whole nation is facing the shutdown, which is already the longest in the history of nation is close to its 27th day, as US President Donald Trump is adamant with his demand for the $5 billion of funding for a border wall led to the harsh political realities of a divided government. Some workers have started accepting food handouts amidst the weeks without pay.

The former President too is ensuring that his staff is not going hungry. The former President bought them at least six pizzas, according to the Instagram post. He punctuated the post with a call for officials to figure out a way to end the ongoing impasse, though he did not give any specific suggestion, as he added, “It is time for leaders on both sides to put politics aside, come together, and end this shutdown”.

Freddy Ford, Bush’s Spokesman also said, “He is buying meals for Secret Service agents on his detail as a small way, however insufficient, to show his gratitude for their hard work without pay during the shutdown”.

Around 6,000 Secret Service employees are among the 800,000 federal workers who are not getting their paychecks because of the shutdown. More than 85 percent employees of the agency are continuing to report for work every day. George Bush Junior did not face a single government shutdown during tenure as President of the United States for eight years.

The Secret Service staffs are badly affected in the stranded situation because of the funding debate between President Donald Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi also noted in a letter that the service is affected because of the absence of funding and therefore recommended the President to postponed the shutdown in view of the security concerns.
