Today she’s a 31 year old woman who’s joined the police force as a probationary sub-inspector at the same place.
“I got to know that my posting is at Varkala police station only a few days back. This is a place where I have shed many tears with my small child, with no one to support me,” Ms Siva told news agency ANI.
When Anie was in her first year degree student at KNM Government College in Kanjiramkulam she got married against her parents’ wishes.
When she had her first child, her husband abandoned her. She then decided to return to her parents’ home however they didn’t accept her.
She stayed in a shed at her grandmother’s house with her son Shivasurya and later moved out for better job prospects.
“At the stalls in Varkala Sivagiri ashram, I tried many small businesses like selling lemonade, ice-cream to handmade crafts. Everything flopped. It was then a man who suggested and helped me with money to study and write the exam for the sub-inspector post”, Anie said.
“I started selling curry powder and soap first. Later, I became an insurance agent. Then I used to deliver essential items to people at their homes by travelling on a motorcycle and I got the money to complete my degree in Sociology”, Anie added.
