For the unversed, 28 year old Aaftab Amin Poonawala killed his 26 year old live-in partner Shraddha Walkar in Delhi and chopped her into 35 pieces. Her body was stored in a 300 litre refrigerator. He used the next 16 days to dispose of the body parts in the city and the forest area of Chhattarpur.
He used the victim’s Insta account till June and kept in touch with her friends to create an impression that she’s alive.
Going by his social media profiles like Facebook and Instagram no one in the least would fathom that Aaftab is capable of such a devious act.
According to his Facebook profile Aaftab Poonawala went to St. Francis High School, Vasai. He was a resident of Vasai. He attained a BMS degree at L S Raheja college.
Poonawala used an LGBTQIA filter for one of his profiles however there’s no confirmation that he is indeed an LGBTQIA supporter.
He’s a person of many interests. His Instagram profile hungrychokro_escapades indicate that Aaftab was a food consultant and food photographer. His Insta Page is infused with captivating shots of diverse’ appetising and delectable food coupled with catchy captions.

The accused was also a pet lover.
The victim Shraddha Walkar and Aaftab Poonawala met through an online dating app. Later they worked in the same call center in Mumbai. They fell in love however Shraddha’s parents were against the marriage as they belonged to different faiths.
The couple then relocated to Mehrauli, Delhi and stayed in a rented apartment. A fight broke out between the couple on May 18 after which Aaftab strangled her. He told cops that she was pressuring him to marry her.
He used the next two days to chop her body and then refrigerate it. Incense sticks and room freshener were used to ward off any foul smell. He used a chemical called sulphur hypochlorite to wash off the blood in the apartment and wipe away any evidence. Aaftab admitted that he dated other women who came to his flat while the body was still in the refrigerator.
The accused has been arrested five months after the gruesome crime. Investigations on the crime are still underway.
