Ex-Indian Cricketer's Bold Take on Suryakumar Yadav vs AB de Villiers
Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja feels Suryakumar Yadav is a 'little more consistent' than the great AB de Villiers when it comes to T20 cricket.
The world's best T20 batter, Suryakumar Yadav has been 'bossing' the shortest format in a way few have done before. AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, and others have achieved remarkable results in T20 cricket, but Surya's performances have made people wonder if he's the best 'there ever was' in the shortest format. Ajay Jadeja made a bold statement, saying Suryakumar might even be 'a little more consistent than De Villiers.
During a chat on Cricbuzz after India's 91-run win over Sri Lanka in the third and final T20I in Rajkot, Jadeja compared De Villiers to Suryakumar. When comparing the two, Jadeja discussed a number of aspects, including power, wrist work, consistency, and hitting angles.
It is without a doubt that AB de Villiers is the best we have ever seen. Compared to AB, Suryakumar Yadav has a little more consistency, and I think he adds a little more power to his game. But what he adds is wristwork, which AB did not have. It was the wrists that caused the angles you spoke of. He said his wrists worked better on both sides than AB's as well."

Suryakumar scored a 51-ball 112 against Sri Lanka in the third T20I on Saturday. Despite questions about how the middle-order batsman has changed the perception of batting in T20 cricket, he has indeed established himself as the best batter in the world.
As India take on Lankans in a 3-match series beginning January 10, the 32-year-old would now look to translate his excellent form into ODI cricket.
