Enjoy Your Dining Experience in ‘Naulo’ Where Food Meets Technology

The country of Nepal which is synonymous with beauty has been in the news lately because of a unique restaurant named ‘Naulo’. So, what makes the dining experience in ‘Naulo’ so different from the rest of the eating joints? Five-foot tall ‘Gingers’ or in other words robots are here to cater to your taste bud needs instead of waiters.

Even If you are not well versed with the local Nepalese language, there’s no need to fret as our ‘Ginger’ robots are well versed in the English language too.  What’s more interesting is that these five-foot robots can uplift your moods instantly as they are apt at cracking jokes. How cool is that!!

Food lovers can order food at a touch of a screen from the comfort of their own tables as touch screens menus are embedded on these tables. So you don’t need to patiently wait for the waiter to turn up at your table which can be sometimes tiresome especially when you are in the mood to binge.

A team of 25 young engineers belonging to the local start-up Paila Technology has worked on these robots for months in a small three-roomed office. The bodies of these robots were painted in a neighborhood workshop by these innovative young minds of Nepal. Raut the oldest member of the team is only 27 years old albeit he has big dreams of taking this idea to a global platform.  

One can witness ‘Ginger’ robots navigating the restaurant carrying trays of food and serving it to food enthusiasts. They can easily sense obstacles and are able to navigate their way in and around in the restaurant. The class of customers who are most taken up with these small statured celebrities is none other than children.

As per reports, these robots are enjoying a star like status as children who come to visit the restaurant are always looking forward to clicking a selfie or two with these small wonders. The robot is named ‘Ginger’ as it is a common ingredient in the Nepalese cuisine.

Currently, there are three ‘Gingers’ in total in the restaurant. There are human waiters who are also around the restaurant to give these wonders a helping hand if the need arises however the creators are working on it to help it run entirely on its own without outside help.

The restaurant which is Nepal’s first digitized restaurant opened its doors in this beautiful country four months ago and we must say that the robots are doing a fine job in attracting new customers.

Naulo seems to be an apt destination to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries and parties. Though Naulo is bound to give you a unique dining experience only time will tell whether the trend of robots serving in restaurants is here to stay.
