Drew Barrymore Clarifies Remarks She Made about Her Mother in A Video Clip
At the age of 14, Drew Barrymore successfully obtained legal emancipation from her parents, Jaid Barrymore and John Drew Barrymore. Despite this, she continues to provide financial support for her mother.
Actress Drew Barrymore had a difficult relationship with her mother Jaid Barrymore since childhood. We all know that she had a turbulent childhood and got into substance abuse.
Even though Drew Barrymore won legal emancipation from her mother and father at the age of 14, she continues to support her mother.
The actress recently came under scanner as some tabloids claim that she wanted her mom to pass away.
The actress however clarified that her words were misinterpreted and twisted. They were taken out of context when she gave the interview to Vulture.
The actress released a video on Instagram where she called out all tabloids.
She said, “You know what? To all you tabloids out there, you have been f****ng with my life since I was 13 years old. I have never said that I wished my mother was dead.”
“How dare you put those words in my mouth.”
“I have been vulnerable and tried to figure out a very difficult, painful relationship while admitting it is difficult to do so while a parent is alive,” she added. “And that for those of us who have to figure that out in real time, cannot wait as in they cannot wait for the time — not that the parent is dead.”
She goes on to say, “ Don’t twist my words around or ever say that I wished my mother was dead.”
“I have never said that. I never would,” she said. “In fact, I go on to say that I wish that I never have to live in existence where I would wish that on someone because that is sick.”
Many celebs like Jennifer Love Hewitt, Heather McMahon, Padma Lakshmi, and Alyssa Milano came in support of the Hollywood actress.
She later sent a text message to Vulture magazine’s reporter regarding her conversation with her mom.
She wrote, “I texted my mom for her birthday and she told me she loved me and she was proud of me. I don’t care how old you get or how big your mission is.”
“When your mom tells you she loves you, you revert back to small," she added. "And the fact that she loves me with my truth and my honesty is the best time I have ever heard her say it.”
