She was found lying unconscious at the bottom of the staircase in her home in New York city borough of Manhattan.
The news was announced by Donald Trump on his social media platform ‘Truth Social.’ He wrote that the mother of his three eldest children had “passed away at her home in New York City.”
He added, “She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.”
He further said, “Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana!"
Trump however didn’t mention the cause of her death.
Donald Trump married Ivana Trump in 1977 and divorced her in 1992.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department (NYPD) told AFP agency that they received a call from her address on the Upper East Side at around 12:40 pm. After arriving at the scene, the officers declared her dead.
Ivana lived in Canada before immigrating to America. She was with a group of models in New York City in 1976 when she met Donald Trump. The duo tied the knot on April 7, 1977.
She held key positions in The Trump organization when she was married to him which included Executive Vice President for interior design. The power couple were the subject of tabloids in New York society.
They appeared in several TV programs such as The Oprah Winfrey Show in April 1988 and BBC’s Wogan in May 1988.
Their divorce in the 90s received extensive media coverage. Post divorce, Ivana created her own line of clothing, fashion jewellery, and beauty products.
She wrote an advice column for ‘Globe’ called “Ask Ivana” from 1995 to 2010 and also penned several books such as The Best Is Yet To Come: Coping With Divorce And Enjoying Life Once Again and an autobiography titled ‘Raising Trump.’
