The Bengaluru Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath has tested positive for dengue. He’s currently recovering in his home. Simultaneously, there has also been a surge in viral fever cases.

The highest number of cases recorded, in the first five months of the year, have been from the Mahadevapura and east zones of the city. Many patients visiting Doctors in the city are reporting a drop in the platelet count.

Dengue is caused by the dengue virus (DENV) which is transmitted to humans through the bite of an infected mosquito. There will be a drop in the platelet count which poses a great risk to the patient.
