Delhi Pollution: Over 5 Lakh Litres of Water Sprinkled to Bring down Air Pollution

Delhi Fire Services sprinkled more than 5 lakh litres of water at 13 pollution hotspots across Delhi, to bring down the air pollution level. Initiating on Saturday, the water activity continued till Sunday, as the proportion of the pollution reached ‘severe’ last week.

The 13 hotspots are Rohini, Dwarka, Okhla Phase II, Punjabi Bagh, Anand Vihar, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, Jahangirpuri, RK Puram, Bawana, Narela, Mundka and Mayapuri, as identified by the Central Pollution Control Board.

Reportedly, more than 20 fire tenders were deployed in the mission. And to everyone’s relief, the air quality improved marginally on Saturday due to the increased wind speed.

As per the Air Quality Index, AQI between 201 and 300 is "poor", 301-400 is "very poor" and 401-500 is "severe".

On Saturday, AQI in the national capital read 234 at 4 in the evening, denoting “poor”, down from “very poor” Friday and Saturday morning.
