Cricket Australia has dedicated a stand to the king of spin Shane Warne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Wednesday.
The memorial service was attended by his family which includes his three children Summer, Brooke, and Jackson who unveiled the stand during the service.
The cricketer had passed away of a suspected heart attack while he was holidaying in Thailand. He was 52.
A private funeral was held last week for the legend which was attended by close family and friends while the memorial service was attended by numerous celebrities and players.
Shane Warne’s three children gave deeply touching tributes in memory of their father.
Warne’s eldest daughter Brooke Warne said that her father will never be able to see her or her siblings achieve major milestones in their lives.
“I could go on forever about what we’re going to miss out on, but nothing would be more upsetting about how much I already miss you Dad,” the 24-year-old Brooke said.
“I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that you won’t be able to walk down the aisle on my special day,” Summer Warne, 20, said while their brother described their father as his best friend and the best dad anyone could ask for.
Others from the sports fraternity, musicians, and Hollywood actors paid video tributes to the cricket legend.
The unveiling of the stand took place at the end of the memorial service. The former Great Stand at the venue will now be known as the Shane Warne Stand.
