Central to Visit Flood-Affected Areas of Andhra Pradesh, Claims Home Minister
IMD issues yellow and orange alerts for various parts of Andhra Pradesh claiming heavy to extreme heavy rainfall. PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah to monitor the flood and provide any support needed.
IMD issued a yellow alert for many places in Telangana, claiming heavy rainfall across various regions. Some of the regions that may receive heavy rainfall were Mulugu, Jayshankar, Komaram Bheem, and Mancherial. An orange alert was established for regions such as NTR and Krishna. The alert stays active till the 7th of September when the rainfall can cause flood-like situations.
Many schools and colleges in the NTR region declared holidays for these days since the weather conditions might get worse. The IMD also claimed that a cyclonic circulation will be hovering around 3.5 km above the sea level which can cause pressure buildup in the atmosphere leading to immense rain.
Met department also suggested, “A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5.” The Andhra Pradesh rain till now claimed close to 35 lives and damaged multiple roads and houses.
People living in the low-lying areas are being rescued and evacuation is also challenging as there are minimal resources available and the majority of the locations are submerged in water. However, many areas across Andhra Pradesh is witnessing receding water levels which is a positive sign as the rehabilitation process can be continued.
CM of Andhra Pradesh has claimed an ex gratia amount of 5 lakhs for the families that were affected because of the rain and damaged their houses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Home Minister Amit Shah further claimed that all support would be provided.
