Tuesday, April 24, 2018, will remain as a memorable day in actor-director Bradley Cooper’s life and career. Whether the 43-year-old very handsome actor has been anticipating such a huge response for ‘A Star is Born’ first trailer launch or not, we’re not sure. But, the reaction to its emotional trailer is said to be rare, and direct from the heart. “It’s a big swing this movie, I totally get that, but you can’t control what moves you. And I always wanted to tell a love story.” Cooper said.
Along with Bradley Cooper himself, another famous figure who’s an essential part of the film, and whom Cooper calls “kind of a revelation in the movie” is Lady Gaga. According to many of the conference attendees, Gaga’s presence in the trailer is impressive and very real. A well-known editor tweeted, “First trailer for A Star Is Born gave me chills. Lady Gaga’s Hollywood moment is far from over. Music is phenomenal. #CinemaCon”.
Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman said the movie is an “extraordinary directorial debut.”
Bradley Cooper recently appeared at The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about ‘A Star is Born’, shared that he would be seen singing with his own voice in the movie. The actor who couldn’t stop praising Lady Gaga for her “amazing” performance, added, every bit of music in his directorial debut is “original”.
‘A Star is Born’ is a remake of the 1937 romantic musical of the same name that starred Janet Gaynor and Fredric March. The film revolves around an aspiring actress who wants to make her place in Hollywood and a fading star who helps her achieve her dreams despite his own ravaging career due to unrestrained alcohol addiction. But, this is not the first time that the film is getting remade. The central story was adapted in 1954 and 1976, and each time by the same name.
But what neither the entire Hollywood film fraternity nor the ‘A Star is Born’ makers might be aware of, that such a cinematic and heart-wrenching plot has been put into use by some Bollywood filmmakers in India. ‘Aashiqui 2’ the 2013 romantic-musical drama thrives on a similar plot where a struggling singer with a gifted voice finds her way to fame and love also, through and in a man who used to be a very popular singer himself until alcohol took over his genius. Moreover, the declining star-singer sacrifices his life to see her lady love shine. First in this movie chain row, ‘Aashiqui’ (1990) that also features an ambitious girl trapped in a conflicting relationship with a struggling singer, however, gets a happy ending. Both these musicals are known for their soulful music compositions.
No wonder, the storyline is so strong and appealing that it is worth remaking, time and again. ‘A Star is Born’ 2018 that brings in for the very first time Bradley Cooper as a director and Lady Gaga as a feature film actress, seems quite promising. It’s arriving in the theaters on October 5. For you, here’s the teaser trailer for the film:
