The book is titled Manoj Bajpayee — Kuch Paane Ki Zid. Penguin India is in charge of publishing the book.
Pandey shared the cover of the biography on Twitter on Tuesday.
“Some stories are unique. @BajpayeeManoj ji’s story is also like this. To be honest, the story is completely ‘filmy’. This story has now been incarnated in the form of a biography. @PenguinIndia has printed and yours truly has written it. Hope you like it,” the author wrote.
Responding to the tweet Manoj said, “I don’t even know when you wrote this! My best wishes to you! This will give me a chance to read about and understand my life from your point of view!”
The actor’s filmy journey from the land of Bihar to the city of dreams- Mumbai has been nothing less than a roller coaster ride.
As a child he always desired to become an actor. He completed his higher studies in New Delhi. Ironically, when he applied to the National School of Drama , he was rejected four times.
The ride hasn’t been easy for Manoj as he went unnoticed in numerous films.
Despite this, the method actor never hesitated to dabble in a variety of genres be it comedy, action drama or thriller. Many of his films were unconventional.
He made his one-minute debut role in the film Drohkaal (1994) and he further played a role of a dacoit in Shekhar Kapur’s bandit queen.
His breakthrough however came when he played gangster Bhiku Mhatre in Ram Gopal Verma’s 1998 hit movie ‘Satya’ for which he bagged the national film award for best supporting actor.
Today Manoj is considered as one of the finest and authentic actors of the country. He’s the recipient of India’s fourth highest civilian honour Padma Shri for his contributions to art.
Actor Nawazuddin Siddique said that Manoj’s work in Aks was the inspiration for his role as the antagonist in the movie Kick (2014). Besides many memorable films, Bajpayee will forever be remembered for his performance as Bhiku Mhatre in Satya as well as for the iconic dialogue: “Mumbai ka king kaun? Bhiku Mhatre" (Who is the king of Mumbai? Bhiku Mhatre).
