Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Kennedy’ Gets A Seven Minute Standing Ovation at The 76th Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival premiered Anurag Kashyap's police noir, Kennedy. It revolves around an insomniac cop's quest for redemption. The Cannes screening of 'Kennedy' lived up to expectations, receiving a seven-minute standing ovation.
Director Anurag Kashyap is on cloud number nine as his film ‘Kennedy’ got a seven minute standing ovation at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
Anurag was at Cannes and giving him company were stars of the film Sunny Leone, Vikramaditya Motwane, Rahul Bhatt, Shariq Patel and many others.
‘Kennedy’ film which was screened at The Grand Lumiere Theatre is about an ex insomniac cop who secretly works for the corrupt system and is looking for redemption.
Reportedly ‘Kennedy’ is based on a story filmmaker Sudhir Mishra told Anurag Kashyap years ago.
Kennedy is the first Indian film that screened in the midnight section at The Grand Lumiere Theatre.
The ovation left actress Sunny Leone teary eyed. Anurag Kashyap, Rahul Bhat and other stars appeared emotional and filled with gratitude. The crew members hugged each other while the audience cheered on.
Speaking about the film Kasyap said, “It's always special to show your film to the world at Cannes and it’s a lifetime moment to play at the Grand Theatre Lumiere. Kennedy is a very special film to me and extremely personal too. We have put our heart and soul into making this film. Seven-minute-long standing ovation from the audience has made me full of gratitude. I am very grateful and excited at the same time.”
