Actor Siddhanth Kapoor Released on Bail in Drug Consumption Case

Actor and assistant director Siddhanth Kapoor who was arrested on Sunday night on charges of drug consumption has been released on bail on Monday. 

The other four people who had been arrested have also been released on bail. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police for East Bengaluru Bheema Shankar Gulled said that they have to appear before the police as and when they are called. 

Mr Guled said, “Siddhanth Kapoor's medical shows he had consumed drugs. We have already arrested him and are following the procedure. We will be sending him to judicial custody.”

“Last night we got info that a party is going on and they have consumed drugs. We raided and detained 35 people. We didn't find any drugs on their person but found MDMA and ganja disposed of nearby. We will investigate CCTV to check who disposed it of,” added DCP Guled.

Siddhanth had been partying at night in a hotel on M G Road. The police raided the place after a tip off. 

Samples of those who were suspected of consuming drugs had been sent for medical tests and Siddharth’s sample returned positive. Police are unsure whether the group consumed drugs at the hotel or had drugs outside and then came to the party. 

When Siddhanth’s father Shakti Kapoor was contacted by News 18, he said, “I am not aware of anything. I have just gotten up from my sleep and my phone has started ringing continuously. He hasn't been arrested but detained by the cops for consumption (of drugs). I don't think there was any possession. I have as much information as it is coming out in the news and I am really troubled by this news.”
