9-Year-Old Quaden Bayles Has His ‘Celebrity Moment’ after the Disturbing Bullying Episode

The unsettling video of a 9-year-old Australian boy Quaden Bayles who was bullied by his peers in school won the attention of masses worldwide. Quaden’s mother Yarraka had uploaded the very disturbing video of her son on social media after he was bullied to draw attention to the bad consequences of bullying.

In the sensitive video, Quaden Bayles who lives with a common form of dwarfism was seen crying and admitting that he wanted to commit suicide. According to his mom, he is suicidal every time he experiences a bullying incident.

In the video, Yarraka said, “Parents, educators, and teachers this is the effects that bullying has. So can you please educate your children, your families, and friends because all it takes is one more instant and you wonder why kids are killing themselves?”

The video caught the attention of celebrities like Hugh Jackman, comedian Brad Williams and thousands of other social media users.

Now, however, life seems to be a tad better for Quaden. Celebrities and sports stars have a big role to play in this. On Saturday, Quaden led an Australian Indigenous All-Star Rugby League Team onto the field. The audience kept on cheering him as he walked along with the Rugby sports stars. In the snapshot, he was seen wearing headphones and holding the captain’s hand looking pleased.

Below are heartwarming messages extended from celebrities to brighten up Quaden Bayles day:

Comedian Brad Williams who also suffered from achondroplasia set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Quaden and his mother to visit Disneyland in Los Angeles. The page has raised more than $700,000. All the extra funds would go towards charities that work against bullying.

As parents, we have to educate our children about the bad consequences of bullying and school authorities need to take stringent steps to prevent such episodes from occurring in school premises. We may never know how a child would react to a bullying situation as every child is different and comes from varied family backgrounds.

Bullying has drastic effects on the psyche of victims. It affects the self-esteem of the child which could last a lifetime. In Quaden Bayles’ case, it had made him suicidal. It is therefore commendable of organizations and celebrities who worked together to make life happier for Bayles after the bullying episode. Little Bayles deserved his “celebrity moment” after all he had been through.
