‘Dancing on The Grave’ is a Spine Chilling True Story of a Heinous Crime Set in Recent Times

Patrick Graham’s ‘Dancing’ On The Grave’ on Amazon Prime Video has received amazing reviews from audiences.

The chilling and mind-baffling docu-series will keep you hooked to your seat right till the end.

The docu-series is a true story set in the 80s based on the life and gruesome murder of a rich and beautiful heiress Shakereh Khaleeli in the city of Bengaluru.

Shakereh Khaleeli’s character will intrigue you right from the start. The attractive lady hailed from an affluent Indo-Persian family. Shakereh was the daughter of Gulam Hussain Namazie and Gauhar Taj Begum Mirza. She’s also the granddaughter of Sir Mirza Ismail the former Dewan of Mysore. Friends and family describe her as a “larger than life” character and someone who is hard to ignore. She studied in Singapore and was a real estate developer. Shakereh married her mother’s sister’s son Akbar Khalileeli who was an Indian diplomat. The early years of their marriage were bliss. Akbar Khalileeli travelled a lot while Shakereh followed him with the kids wherever he was posted. However, when he was posted in Iran, she decided to stay back in Bangalore along with her four daughters. She got engaged with her construction projects.

When Akbar returned from Iran he was in for a surprise. Shakereh wanted a divorce from him. The couple divorced in 1984.The four daughters stayed abroad with their father.

Shakereh’s family received another shock when six months after her divorce she married Swami Shradhananda going against her family and traditions in 1986. Swami Sharddhananda was a self-styled Godman originally known as Murali Manohar Mishra. His personality was said to be completely different from that of Shakereh’s sophisticated persona.

It was in 1991 when her second daughter Sabah stopped receiving calls from her mother. Sabah was very close to her mother and often came to visit her. Shradhananda didn't give a concrete answer about Shakereh’s whereabouts to Sabah and other family members for years.

No one knew where she had disappeared. It was only in May 1994, with Sabah’s forceful efforts, the Karnataka police found the skeletal remains of Shakereh in a wooden coffin-like box buried in the courtyard of her own home.

Shraddhanand With Sabah

When the mattress was removed from the box one of her hands was clutching the mattress which indicates that she was alive when she was buried. There were also nail marks on the sides of the wooden box that support the fact that she was buried alive and would’ve tried her best to free herself. Who murdered Shakereh Khaleeli and why? Why did Shakereh leave her well placed husband and marry Swami Shradhananda who was opposite to her in every way ?

To know the answers to these questions watch the haunting events unfold in ‘Dancing On The Grave’ that is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
