"Bomb-like Object" Dropped at Pokhran Field by An IAF Fighter Jet. Investigation Underway
A bomb-like object was dropped 1km from Ramdevra region. Engaged IAF jet to be investigated as firing range was 15 km away.
On Wednesday, a bomb-like object was dropped in the Ramdevra region of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. The bomb was dropped in the Pokhran firing range which is designed to test various arms of the Indian Defence system. The IAF confirmed that it dropped Air Store because of a technical glitch in the jet. Air Store typically means dropping missiles or bombs in order to complete long-range missions. After this, a probe was initiated only to identify the type of Air Store dropped or the fighter jet involved.
“An inadvertent release of an air store from an IAF fighter aircraft took place near the Pokhran firing range area, due to technical malfunction, today. An inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident. No damage to life or property has been reported,” concluded a spokesperson from the Indian Airforce.
Team Scrabble identified a training mission as one reason behind the drop of Air store. The locals were seen making a video of the incident which gave them a shock. One of the residents claimed that the fighter jet was flying at an extremely low level. Right then they heard an explosion, approximately 1 km from the drop location. It was then the locals rushed to the place only to find a “bomb-like object”.
They found a 8 feet deep crater which is said to be 15 KM far from the official firing range. Security agencies and Police were informed about the incident.
