‘Animal’ Still Soaring High on Day 12; Box Office Collection Stands at ₹ 458 Crore
'Animal,' starring Ranbir Kapoor, continues to maintain its strong performance at the box office, surpassing films like 'Jawan' and 'Pathan.' Remarkably, as the year concludes, the movie has emerged as one of the most significant blockbusters of 2023.
Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ is still going strong at the box office. Surprisingly, it has outperformed movies like ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathan.’ As the year comes to an end, the movie has become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023.
The movie that released on December 1 stood at Rs.13 crore on the twelfth day and has collected ₹ 458.12 crore at the Indian box office.
Though the movie is controversial and stirs up different emotions within us, let’s reflect on what made this movie a blockbuster ?
Reviews suggest that every actor in the film including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol delivered incredible performances. All of them have put their best foot forward, in their own unique way, adding value to the movie.
Even though Ranbir Kapoor’s character is dark and complex, reviews suggest that he has played the role of Ranvijay Singh perfectly, in fact above expectations. Even Bobby Deol has delivered an exceptional performance.
‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, explores the distorted relationship between a father and son and the person the child is moulded into as he grows into an adult.
The film deeply explores the personality of the son, due to his disturbed relationship with his dad. The son seeks validation, love and approval of his father.
Sandeep Reddy touches upon topics like family, vengeance and transformation through this film.
The movie has compelling storytelling, however there is a slump in the screenplay. The background score and songs have blended seamlessly into the fabric of the story and moves the story forward.
That said, ‘Animal’ is said to be loud, bold, raw, infused with a lot of blood and violence. It is not a family movie and not for people who get easily triggered.
A section of people have labelled the film as “misogynist” glorifying toxic masculinity.
Has the director really glorified toxic masculinity or has he explored and exposed the dicey subject ? Does the film reflect our own society by showcasing toxic characters in the form of a gripping and action packed story?
Watch the movie and decide.
