Some viewers shared on Twitter that certain scenes in ‘Incredibles 2’ may be a concern for people with photosensitive epilepsy or other photosensitivities. Now, viewers who are going to watch ‘Incredibles 2’ might notice some health-related warnings regarding the film.

These warning posts on Twitter garnered worldwide attention and now Disney has issued warnings to all viewers about the movie’s visual effects. Notices issuing a warning regarding the visual effects were posted in theatres. The scenes containing flashing lights especially, may be a concern for people who have photosensitive epilepsy. Kristin Supe a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the Ohio State University and who lectures about the disorder shared the warning sign on Twitter. "They were posted on doors and ticket windows. I took the picture and tweeted about it because I like for students to see how class material applies to the real world and daily life”, she said.

Tips for People with Photosensitive Epilepsy

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases according to the World Health Organization and about 50 million people have this condition. Kristen Supe informs us that seizures are uncontrolled electrical activity in the brain and repeated occurrence of these seizures leads to Epilepsy. Photosensitive epilepsy affects a small percentage of people who suffer from epilepsy.

According to the Epilepsy Foundation, 3 percent of people who suffer from Epilepsy when exposed to flashing lights of varying intensities or which have certain visual patterns can trigger seizures. Photosensitive epilepsy is more common in children and adolescents. Scenes like the flashing lights in ‘Incredibles 2’ can cause migraines in people with the condition. Viewers with Epilepsy need not get disappointed though. You can still go ahead and watch the movie by making an informed choice of watching the movie at home. You can watch the movie by turning the lights on in your room or by watching it further away from the screen.

‘Incredibles 2’ rakes $27 million

‘Incredibles 2’ that revolves around the Parr family namely Bob, Helen, Dash, Violet, and Jack has raked $27 million on its fifth day of release scoring the best ever Tuesday gross for the month of June. The movie starts off from the final moments of the previous film when they stop Underminer from robbing a bank which unfortunately fails. Eventually, the Parr family go under hiding, as ‘Superheroes’ are banned by the authorities. Soon Bob and Helen are contacted by a pair of mysterious siblings Winston and Evelyn Deavor who want them to restore people’s faith in ‘Superheroes’ once again.

This time Helen gets an opportunity to exhibit her superpower skills while Bob takes a back seat this time and taps into his domestic skills by looking after the kids. Elastigirl (Helen) gets on with her mission until she comes across Screenslaver- the mysterious villain. This villain is completely against the theory of ‘Superheroes’ as he believes they encourage complacency in people. He hypnotizes people by attaching goggles on them eventually coercing them to commit heinous acts. Can Elastigirl take him on?
